Abstract
The author described anal topography briefly, and discussed etiology, symptomatology, and treatment of surgical diseases of the anorectal region, such as periproctitis, perirectitis, periproctal abscess, perirectal abscess, anal fissure, anal fistula, hemorrhoids, anal prolapse and rectal prolapse.
The author emphasized removal of involved anal crypt in surgery of anal fistula. In hemorrhoidectomy, submucosal resection is routinely done, which is followed by catgut interrupted suture except anal skin. No suture placed at anal skin regionl,2).
Application of Ungentum Acidum boricum prevented postoperative infection.
Division of anal sphincter during fistulectomy for anal fistula must be repaired by closure of division to prevent fecal incontinence 3,4)
